Ireland: Laudato Si' is theme for Catholic Schools Week 2017

On Sunday 29 January Bishop Denis Nulty, Bishop of Kildare & Leighlin, will be the chief celebrant and preacher at Mass to mark the opening of Catholic Schools Week 2017. This Mass will be broadcast by RTÉ on radio and television from the Church of Saints Peter & Paul, Portlaoise, which has a capacity for 1,800 people. This year's theme, 'Catholic schools: Learning with Pope Francis to care for our common home' has been informed by Laudato Si', the 2015 encyclical by Pope Francis on care for our common home.

Bishop Denis Brennan's Homily for Vocations Sunday Mass was televised and broadcast by RTÉ from its Donnybrook studios in Dublin yesterday. I heard a story on radio during the week. A lady rang into a 'talk-programme'. Her story was a very familiar one. She had been raised a Catholic, but she doesn't attend Church anymore. She went on to explain why she had moved away from the Church and made it plain that she had no intention of going back. However, all was not well with her.

Ireland: Catholic Schools Week begins with Mass on RTÉ Television
Catholic Schools Week 2013 will begin this Sunday 27 January with RTÉ One Television broadcasting 11.15am Mass from its Donnybrook studios in Dublin. In addition CSW 2013 will take place next week in all 26 dioceses on the island of Ireland. The objective of CSW is to celebrate the contribution of Catholic schools to society and to faith. Father Kevin Heery, chaplain to Saint Joseph’s Mercy Secondary School, Navan, will be celebrant for this Sunday's televised Mass.

Ireland: RTÉ to broadcast live from Meath Diocesan Eucharistic Congress
Parishioners from the 69 parishes of the Diocese of Meath in Ireland are making plans to attend the first ever Diocesan Eucharistic Congress.  This festival of faith will be held in St Mary's Church, Navan, this weekend 14 - 16 October 2011.  The organisers are confident that it will help parishioners prepare for the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in the RDS and Croke Park which will take place on 10 - 17 June 2012.

This Sunday, 18 October, televised Mass will be broadcast from the RTÉ studios in Donnybrook to celebrate Mission Sunday, the worldwide day of prayer for the missions.  Mission Sunday provides us with an opportunity to focus on the central teaching of Christ to "go and make disciples of all nations" (Matt 28:19).

The first ever live broadcast of Mass from Lough Derg will be aired by RTÉ television this coming Sunday, 2 August.  Lough Derg lies four miles north of the village of Pettigo in County Donegal, in the Diocese of Clogher.  Station Island, the location of the pilgrimage, is often referred to as St Patrick’s Purgatory.
