Westminster: catechists' summer gathering

Source: Agency for Evangelisation

A conference for all those involved in catechesis in the Westminster takes place this Friday and Saturday. The Christ we proclaim has been organised by the Agency for Evangelisation.

The conference will comprise of a lecture on Friday evening, 3 July, at Vaughan House, Victoria, London SW1P 1QN; or a lecture and workshops all day on Saturday, 4 July, at All Saints Pastoral Centre, Shenley Lane, London Colney AL2 1AF .

There is the option of attending the Friday evening lecture with evening prayer followed by a social or the Saturday all-day conference with workshops.

Archbishop Vincent Nichols will preside over the opening liturgy on Saturday morning. It will offer him an opportunity to meet the catechists of the diocese - and a great opportunity for the catechists to welcome him back to the diocese.

The main speaker at the conference will be Fr John Deehan, MA, STB, LSS, who will begin by asking the question: Where is Jesus and what is he doing in each of the Gospels? The aim of catechesis is to know, or to come to know more deeply, the person of Jesus (CT5) - and Fr John will help us to get a better understanding of the Christ we Proclaim in the Gospels.

On Saturday, there will be workshops led by Fr Anthony Doe, Spiritual Director, Counsellor & Psychotherapist; Clare Ward, CASE; Brian Purfield, Mount Street Jesuit Centre; Sheila Isaacs, St Joseph's Pastoral Centre; and by the Diocesan Catechetical Advisers.

The Friday evening session is from 7 - 9.30pm and costs £5

The Saturday conference is from 10am-4.30pm and cost £15 with lunch, tea and coffee
provided.
