Petition: Save the Cardinal pub
The Cardinal public house, in Francis Street near Archbishops House, has been a popular meeting place for parishioners and groups from Westminster Cathedral for decades.
Throughout the years it has acquired a collection of paintings and drawings of several different cardinals who served at nearby Westminster Cathedral - among the Cardinal Hume and Cardinal Manning - who supported the Dockers Strike of 1889.
ICN has learnt that the owners are now planning to revert to the pub's original name - the ubiquitous 'Windsor Castle' - after a refurbishment programme is complete.
We feel this is would be a real loss to the community and an erosion of the Christian presence in the area, and are hoping that the owners change their mind.

* A photocall will take place outside the pub at 2pm on Thursday, 5 May, before the petition is presented to the pub owners. All supporters welcome to join in.
