London concert for The Passage

Church of the Immaculate Conception, Farm Street

Church of the Immaculate Conception, Farm Street

The Jesuit Church of the Immaculate Conception, Farm Street in London will be hosting a concert at 7pm this evening (3 October) in aid of The Passage, a Catholic charity based in central London which works with homeless people and provides them with support, irrespective of their beliefs or cultures.

The concert will feature music by Mozart and Haydn, and proceeds from the event will go to support the work of The Passage which has been helping homeless people for more than 30 years.

Musicians Rachel Isserlis (Violin), Luba Tunnicliffe (Violin), Annette Isserlis (Viola), Sheelah Treflé Hidden (Viola) and Sebastian Comberti (Cello) will be performing two Mozart String Quintets (the works in C Major K515 and G Minor, K516) and the Haydn String Quartet in C Major Opus 33 No 3. Tickets at £15 each are available from The Passage, details below.

The work of the charity focuses primarily on people who sleep rough on the streets of the capital, many of whom need support with either alcohol, drugs or mental health issues. It takes its values and ethos from the 17th century Christian social reformer, St Vincent de Paul, and is committed to helping homeless people to change their lives through the services it provides. It addresses their basic needs, offers advice, and helps with resettlement and rehabilitation, including help with housing, literacy and numeracy, as well as their mental and physical health.
