London: Candlelit vigil, public meeting to mark Fukushima anniversary

A candlelit vigil to Remember Fukushima, and say no to Nuclear Power and for victims of earthquake and tsunami, takes place outside the Japanese embassy, Piccadilly, on Monday 11 March, from 5.30-6.30pm.

In the evening there will be a public meeting in the House of Commons to discuss the unfolding disaster and implications for the UK's nuclear programme. 7.30-9.30pm, Committee Room 8.

The meeting will be chaired by Jeremy Corbyn MP, vice-chair, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND). Speakers include: Jonathon Porritt, environmentalist, Forum for the Future; John Large, independent nuclear safety engineer, Large and Associates Ltd; Dr Paul Dorfman, Nuclear Consulting Group; Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust nuclear policy research fellow and senior researcher at University of Warwick; Prof Stephen Thomas, energy policy researcher, University of Greenwich Dr Kate Hudson, General Secretary, CND; Geoff Read, Fukushima evacuee Satsuki Goto, Japanese Against Nuclear (UK) Taka Honda, World Network for Saving Children from Radiation; Camilla Berens, Kick Nuclear and Stop New Nuclear alliance.
