Pax Christi's Ann Farr, who was involved in the drafting process, spoke at the launch, introducing the action section which, along with prayer for peace and justice, invites people to participate in visits that highlight the reality of occupation on the peoples of Palestine and urges political action to challenge the violations of human rights and international law.

A Time for Action' is a call to British Christians - to be aware of the present situation in Israel and Palestine, to reflect prayerfully on it, and to respond faithfully and courageously. The introduction states: "Our motivation is only to speak the truth. We want to signal not just our commitment to the rights of Palestinians, but our dedication to the humanity and security of Jews in Israel and worldwide."

*In December 2009, leading Palestinian Christians launched a document called A Moment of Truth; a word of faith, hope and love from the heart of Palestinian suffering. This became known as the Kairos Palestine document. Kairos is a Greek word that means 'a critical moment in time.'

Palestinian Christians asked: 'Are you able to help us get our freedom back? This is the only way you can help the two peoples attain justice, peace and security.' British Christians, from a wide variety of traditions have felt compelled to respond to that challenge.

'We seize this Kairos moment with conviction and hope recognising our responsibility as followers of Jesus Christ to speak the prophetic word with courage.'
