CARJ reviews new initiatives for young people in marginalised communities
The Catholic Association for Racial Justice (CARJ) has published a Review of selected educational initiatives designed to support young people, families and schools in marginalised communities. The review - entitled Stepping Stones to a More Equal Society - outlines the educational disadvantage faced by some young people from ethnic minority and low income backgrounds.
Attempts to address this 'achievement gap' have been partially successful, but important challenges remains. The Review describes various initiatives, sketches the context in which they are set and outlines some of the research that has been done in this area.
A Seminar on this theme is provisionally scheduled for 9 October 2014 at Heythop.
