Jewish peace coalition in solidarity visit to vandalised Palestinian village
Rabbis for Human Rights (RHR) report: Last week, on Purim (March 5 2015), cars were torched and racist graffiti scrawled on a home in the Palestinian village of Murayer. In response, the Tag Meir Coalition organized a solidarity visit with the village yesterday, March 15, which included an amazing theatre performance for the children (and adults!).
RHR said: "We thank all who came out for the event and showed the residents of Murayer a different side of Judaism - one that is compassionate and caring!"
RHR is a proud member of the Tag Meir Coalition, founded in 2011 in response to the vandalism and destruction committed under the name 'Price Tag' by Jewish extremists against Palestinians, refugees and migrants in Israel and in the Occupied Territories. 'Price Tag' refers to the 'price' radical extremists claim in response to actions (usually government actions) against a nationalistic agenda (often the destruction or closing of settlements or outposts).
The Tag Meir Coalition is comprised of 26 organizations and organizes solidarity visits and vigils to locations that have been subject to 'price tag' attacks - often mosques, churches and Arab villages. Tag Meir acts as a voice of tolerance, compassion and respect for victims and communities while showing the world a different, kinder face of Judaism and Israel. Tag Meir is the 2012 winner of the Emil Grunzweig Human Rights Award.
