Young People Awards - Time to Nominate
There are just three weeks left to nominate young people (aged 11-25) to receive the first ever Celebrating Young People Awards.
We all know them: young people or groups working tirelessly to make our communities and our world a better place. Some are in the public eye, but many are working quietly and against the odds. This is an opportunity to hear their stories and recognise their commitment. Maybe you know a tireless carer making someone else's life worth living, or a young person helping to combat loneliness of the elderly.
And what about an inspiring youth leader who brings out the best in others?
All nominations must be received by 24 April to be considered for the 2015 awards ceremony.
On 1 July 2015 award recipients will come together for tea at the Houses of Parliament before walking the red carpet at a glittering ceremony in London's Leicester Square with guest of honour, Cardinal Vincent Nichols. The Cardinal will present the Pope Francis Award.
Other presenters include Baroness Sheila Hollins.
The Celebrating Young People Awards also celebrate the principles of Catholic social teaching and the young people across England and Wales who are putting these principles into practice.
There are six different categories of award, all of which recognise the different ways that young people can engage in social action and make a positive difference in their communities and beyond. They include Celebrating Human Dignity, Living out the Option for the Poor, Promoting Solidarity and Peace, and Caring for the Environment. Alongside the six there is the overall Pope Francis Award, which comes with an individually tailored study trip to South America to walk in the footsteps of Pope Francis. It couldn't be easier to nominate young people you know.
