London: 600 couples to celebrate their marriages in Thanksgiving Mass
Cardinal Vincent will celebrate a special Mass in thanksgiving for the Sacrament of Matrimony this coming Saturday 23 May in Westminster Cathedral at 3pm.
The Mass for Matrimony has been an annual event since 2008 and this year, over 600 couples celebrating milestone anniversaries in 2015 are expected to join the Cardinal to renew their vows. One couple will this year be celebrating their Diamond Jubilee on the day itself.
In this special year when marriage and family life is a special focus for the Church, Cardinal Vincent said: "Their presence represents all spouses across the diocese who bear faithful witness to the Church's vision of authentic married love."
He continued: "There is no such thing as a perfect marriage. But Christian marriages, striving to be like Christ are undoubtedly on the way to perfection."
Among couples present at the Mass on the day: 105 couples are celebrating 10 years of marriage; 153 are celebrating 25 years; 93 are celebrating 40 years;
132 are celebrating 50 years; 34 are celebrating 60 years and over.
