Today is National Fitness Day, and in celebration of this, ukactive, a non-profit health body, is encouraging charities, schools, businesses and Members of Parliament to help "turn the tide of physical inactivity", and St Brendan's Sixth Form College in Wythenshaw, Manchester, is embracing the challenge.

With the aim of getting more people, more active, more often, St Brendan's is thrilled to take part in the day and is running a packed programme of sporting events from 7am to 6pm for all staff and students to enjoy.

The day has been arranged by members of the College Sports Department and encourages students, teachers and staff of all abilities to get involved in a wide range of physical activities. National Fitness Day started early at the Sixth Form College in Brislington; kicking off at 7am with circuit training, gym sessions and a dance workout for staff, and is continuing into the evening to include a wide range of games and classes for all. From exercise sessions in the dance studio and netball training, to boxercise, rugby, football and gym challenges which are sure to bring out the competitive side in all involved. The day is a fantastic opportunity for all at St Brendan's to try out some new sporting activities.

The Sports Union is a big part of St Brendan's Sixth Form College and continues to grow and develop. Academies in rugby, netball, basketball and cricket are welcome additions to the College this year, joining the already well-established male and female football academies, and the department is thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase the diverse range of sporting options now available to all at St Brendan's. National Fitness Day is proving a perfect chance to bring the College together and simultaneously promote the many positives of an active lifestyle.
