Vocation for Justice Winter Issue
The Winter Columban magazine, Vocation for Justice, is now out. It focuses on the call of Laudato Si' to listen to the Cry of the Earth and the Cry of the Poor. The Paris Climate Conference in late November/December is flagged up, along with ideas for engaging with the conference. Columban Sean McDonagh, a consultant to Laudato Si', calls for a three-year Synod to educate Catholics about it, while Westminster Justice and Peace advertises the second part of its cycle ride to Paris which will arrive as the talks start. Expectations of the conference are given in the centrespread.
Columban Bobby Gilmore calls for Europe to be more generous in welcoming refugees and suggests that, "each person is an individual, needing a safe haven from conflict, tyranny, exploitation, poverty, being homeless and stateless".
Events advertised include the Laudato Si' day in Liverpool on Saturday 24th October and 'The Economics of Hope' day in Bristol on Saturday 7th November.
Laudato Si' resources are listed, and they include a Columban study programme of six meetings on the Encyclical. New names are added to the newsletter upon request.
