Pope Francis meets Leonardo DiCaprio
Pope Francis met with film star and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio today.
The actor, who has been nominated for an Oscar for his role in 'The Revenant' is a longtime environmental campaigner, In 1998 he launched The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation to support initiatives building sustainability.
Di Caprio gave the Pope a book of art from the Dutch Renaissance painter, Hieronymus Bosch, and at the end of the encounter, DiCaprio kissed the Pope's ring, and, in Italian, thanked the Holy Father for meeting with him.
DiCaprio addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, earlier this month, calling on business leaders to do more to fight global warming,
"We simply cannot afford to allow the corporate greed of the coal, oil and gas industries to determine the future of humanity," DiCaprio said at Davos. He also announced that his foundation is donating $15 million to environmental projects.
