Holy Land: France condemns Israeli army's destruction of school being built with EU aid
On Saturday night (February 20- 21) Israeli army bulldozers moved in and destroyed an elementary school which was under construction, funded by French humanitarian aid in the West Bank. The French Consulate in Jerusalem has issued the following statement condemning the destruction.
Statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development Spokesperson - Israel/Palestinian territories - Dismantlement of humanitarian projects (February 21st, 2016)
"France condemns the dismantlement by the Israeli army, during the night of February 20- 21, of an elementary school under construction which was funded by the French humanitarian aid in Abu Nuwar, in the West Bank.
This project is located in an area considered by the European Union as key to the viability of the Two-State solution.
We are deeply concerned by the consequences of the dismantlement and confiscation of humanitarian structures in the West Bank. We call upon the Israeli authorities to put an end to these operations that impact already vulnerable communities."
