Play: 'Scenes from 68* Years'
A new play about Palestine - 'Scenes from 68* Years' is being performed at the Arcola Theatre in Dalston, London, from 6-30 April. It is by award-winning writer Hannah Khalil and draws on stories from family and friends. Acclaimed Palestinian actress Maisa Abd Elhadi joins the six strong UK cast via a live video link-up direct from Palestine.
'Scenes from 68* Years' is a snapshot of Palestinian life under occupation: a picnic interrupted by soldiers, a never-ending queue at a checkpoint, sunbathing in the shadow of a tank. It takes the audience on a whistle-stop tour through space and time from 1948 to the present day. The dreams, comedy, sadness and frustrations of daily life in the shadow of the separation wall are revealed.
The production of 'Scenes from 68* Years' is presented by Sandpit Arts, directed by RSC Associate Chris White, and produced by BAFTA nominated performer and producer Alia Alzougbi.
