Thousands of young people have already arrived in Poland from around the world, for World Youth Day. They are staying in towns and cities around the country and participating in many local youth events. This week they will be making their way to Krakow.

The official Opening Mass is on Tuesday, 26 July. Pope Francis is arriving at 4pm the following day. The first big gathering with the Holy Father takes place on Wednesday evening in the courtyard of Wawel Castle.

A number of groups have already reached Krakow. With temperatures in the mid 30s - on Sunday there were many outdoor events, talks, films and music. More reports to follow on ICN. See ICN's Facebook page for more pictures from today.
