Catholic Justice and Peace activist and Ealing councillor Theresa Byrne will be chairing a public meeting at Ealing Town Hall on Wednesday, 31st August, in support of the re-election of Jeremy Corbyn as leader of the Labour Party. The meeting will be addressed by shadow chancellor John McDonnell and FBU general secretary Matt Wrack.

Labour councillor for North Greenford Ms Byrne said: "We are looking forward to welcoming John McDonnell, Shadow Chancellor, to Ealing Town Hall to remind us how successful Jeremy Corbyn has been as leader of the Labour party over the last 10 months, the membership has grown to make us the largest socialist party in the European social movement and illustrates why he needs to be re-elected to continue this work.

'We all share the message that no one or no community should be left behind, and our economy should be based on investment and working for all, not just the wealthiest 1%."

Mr McDonnell is looking forward to the event. "Tens of thousands of people have come out to support Jeremy Corbyn at rallies this summer. This proves that his political programme and approach to politics has gained popularity in the past year. "I'm looking forward to coming to Ealing to outline policies on the economy, on housing and the NHS that will transform west London when Jeremy is leading the next Labour government," said McDonnell.

* Doors open at 7.15 on Wednesday 31 August - Victoria Hall, Ealing Town Hall - New Broadway, Ealing, W5 2BY
