Online prayer service for World Day of Prayer for Creation
We are less than two days away from the World Day of Prayer for Creation!
On Sunday, Pope Francis spoke about the significance of the day to the faithful in St Peter's Square, describing the event as: "an opportunity to strengthen the common commitment to safeguard life, respecting the environment and nature."
The Global Catholic Climate Change Movement are listing prayer services around the world on their site. If there isn't a local prayer service you can attend, they invite readers to join their Online Prayer Service for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. It will take place Thursday, September 1 at 8am US EDT/ 1 pm London.
Representatives from Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, and Episcopalian churches from around the globe will guide a 30-minute service of prayer, silence, and reflection. Also, during the service there will be a chance to offer personal prayer intentions for creation and for our brothers and sisters.
Join the online prayer service here: http://seasonofcreation.org/2016/08/25/sept-1-online-prayer-service/
The prayer service will be recorded and posted on the Season of Creation website http://seasonofcreation.org/ if you would like to listen to it at another time.
As Pope Francis may this truly be a time to "thank God for the wonderful handiwork which he has entrusted to our care, and to implore his help for the protection of creation as well as his pardon for the sins committed against the world in which we live."
