Archbishop Longley in Rome for ecumenical celebration
Archbishop Bernard Longley and his Anglican co-chair in ecumenical dialogue, Archbishop David Moxon, have presented Pope Francis with a book charting the latest phase of international ecumenical dialogue. The presentation took place during a Papal audience at the Vatican with Anglican Bishops from around the world who had gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Anglican Centre in Rome. Pope Francis and the Archbishop of Canterbury met privately for talks before the audience.
Earlier the Archbishop of Canterbury led an ecumenical prayer service at the Altar of the Tomb of St Peter after attending Mass at St Peter's. The day concluded with ecumenical Vespers with the choir of Canterbury Cathedral ; Cardinal Pietro Parolin presided and Archbishop Welby gave the homily.
