Westminster: Crucifixion on Victoria Street
A cross will be carried in procession, down Victoria Street in Westminster on Good Friday. Church groups from many denominations will be greeted by the Lord Mayor of Westminster at 11.45am when the event begins, outside Methodist Central Hall. The cross will be carried this year by Sister Ellen Flynn DC, and people working for the Passage homeless project. Following a reflection, at 12noon, the procession will head down Victoria Street, into the Piazza outside Westminster Cathedral where it is due to arrive at 12.30. The event ends with a service inside Westminster Abbey at 1.30pm. Speakers will include Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, The Rt Hon Ann Widdecombe MP, The Rev Martin Turner of Central Hall and Canon Bob Reiss of the Abbey. A collection will be taken in aid of The Passage. The event was founded in 1990 to mark the Decade of Evangelisation. Many thanks to Fr Michael Seed for this information
