Westminster: two new priests ordained

Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor ordained two new priests for the archdiocese at Westminster Cathedral on Saturday morning: Fr Michael Daley and Fr Slawomir Witon.

Fr Michael has been serving as deacon at the cathedral for the past year. He will commence his ministry as a priest in September at St George's, Sudbury.

Fr Slawomir who was seminarian of the Redemptoris Mater House of Formation worked on a student placement at Holy Apostles, Pimlico, and then served as a deacon at St Scholastica's in Clapton Park. He is now going to be a chaplain at the Cathedral.

More than 60 friends and relatives of Fr Slavomir came from Poland for the service.

There was a warm ovation after Mass when Cardinal Cormac welcomed them in a few words of Polish.
