Video: Irish Archbishop and leading scientist speak on environment

St Francis of Assisi - Giotto
In advance of the publication of the Irish Catholic Bishops' pastoral reflection: The Cry of the Earth, on 10 November, video interviews with Archbishop Dermot Clifford and Professor John Sweeney have been published on: www.catholicbishops.ie. Both interviews address important issues relating to our responsibility towards the environment.
Archbishop Dermot Clifford, Archbishop of Cashel and Emly and Chair of the Department of Planning and Communications of the Irish Episcopal Conference, discusses the stewardship role of the Church and its people in relation to the environment.
Professor John Sweeney, Director of the Irish Climate Analysis and Research Units at NUI Maynooth, explains how climate change and global warming has been driven predominantly by human activity, and what the consequences will be for people, agriculture and for the economy in this country.
Additional resources are provided on this web feature including suggested further reading and information on the life of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of the environment.
