Glasgow receives symbol of peace from Tuscany

A 200 year old olive tree has arrived in Glasgow from Tuscany - a gift of the people and council of Castelnuovo in the Garfagnana area. The tree, which is already heavy with olives, will be planted in the Cathedral memorial garden later in the year.

The tree - which symbolises peace and reconciliation - will grow in a corner of the garden which is currently being built to the eastern flank of the Cathedral.

Archbishop Conti visited Bellahouston Park where the tree is being kept in readiness for planting, to thank staff there for their help.
