UCM celebration at Westminster Cathedral
At Westminster Cathedral, on Saturday 2nd April, eight members from The Union of Catholic Mothers, Westminster Archdiocese, reached a remarkable mile stone in their UCM years. Between them all they had accumulated 285 years of UCM membership. They were: Bridie Colgan, Eilish Walsh, Mary Goggins, Kathleen O'Gorman, Philomena de Souza, Mary Trzebiatowski, Patricia Heenan and Marie St Mart.
At the end of Mass the chief celebrant, The Right Reverend George Stack, Auxiliary Bishop of Westminster, presented the ladies with framed certificates for the number of years they had been individual members.
They were loudly applauded by all in attendance at the Mass.
Concelebrating were our Diocesan Spiritual Advisor, Father David Irwin, UCM Foundation Spiritual advisers and one Deacon.
It was also wonderful to see so many altar servers, children from the members of UCM Westminster.
Also present were representatives from The Mothers Union, London and St Albans, The Catholic Women’s League, The Association of Catholic Women and members from UCM Portsmouth, Southwark, Upton Park and Colchester.
With banners from different foundations walking in procession before and after Mass, was surely a heart lifting experience to see especially in full view of the many visitors to the Cathedral, some of whom were most interested to know what was happening.
Afterwards, the celebrated ladies along with all our special guests, were invited to Vaughan House for tea and cakes which had been prepared by the Diocesan committee and helpers.
May we offer our congratulations to all of you for your years of dedication of UCM.
