Polish poets celebrated on London Underground

A season of poetry by Czesław Miłosz, Zbigniew Herbert and Adam Zagajewski will be featured on the London Underground this summer. An evening to launch the season will take place on Monday, 6 June. Guest speakers will be Eva Hoffman and the Rt Hon Denis MacShane, MP. Cicely Herbert and Gerard Benson will read from Miłosz, Herbert and Zagajewski, with tributes to Miłosz by Seamus Heaney, Joseph Brodsky and others. The Apollo Chamber Players will perform Grażyna Bacewicz's String Quartet No 4. The event is part of the Milosz Centenary year.
The evening is supported by the Polish Cultural Institute in London, Arts Council England, the British Council and the European Commission Representation in London. It begins at 6.30pm in Europe House, Smith Square, London SW1.
