Legacy Mass for 100 Days of Peace
Thousands of peace-making activities have taken place in support of the Olympic Truce for the London 2012 Games. The final event will be the Legacy Mass at St George's Cathedral, Southwark, this Sunday 28, October 2012 at 3pm.
The Mass will be concelebrated by Archbishop Peter Smith (Southwark), Archbishop Vincent Nichols (Westminster), Bishop Luis Henrique (Rio de Janeiro) and Mgr John Armitage (Brentwood). It will be a bi-lingual Mass in English and Portuguese. All are welcome to join in thanksgiving for the peace legacy of the Games and inprayer for new initiatives towards peace as the eyes of the world turn towards Brazil for the Rio Games in 2016, as well as World Youth Day in 2013 and the Football World Cup in 2014.
All three "Olympic Dioceses" say they are extremely grateful for the spirit of co-operation that has been fostered among us and hope that this, too, will prove a lasting legacy of the Games.
