Cardinal O'Brien

Of course it is sad to see what has happened to Cardinal O'Brien, and one does feel some sympathy for the man. But we must also feels sorry for the men he is alleged to have 'behaved inappropriately' towards. We don't know what happened but it clearly caused great distress.

The Cardinal's harsh words about the LGBT community and caused pain and were unnecessarily cruel. If he had not been so unkind these men might have found it easier to forget and forgive past indiscretions.

Particularly if a person is promoted to such high office, they really should be more careful about the language they use. One wonders whether any of his colleagues ever spoke to him about this. And if they didn't, then they share some responsibility for this mess.
