Appeal for Fah Sai and her friends

Fah Sai

Fah Sai

Fah Sai is nearly four, the child of a couple who lived in a slum in Pattaya, Thailand, and worked for a drug dealer. Her mother is now in prison, her father believed dead. She may have been born with cerebral palsy, or she may have suffered brain damage when young (there is a story that she was dropped on her head). Either way she has no use of her legs, and her development was slow.

Whilst her parents were out selling drugs for the dealer, Fahsai and their other children were ‘looked after’ by the dealer. The care given to Fah Sai amounted to leaving her to sleep on the floor, with an occasional feed of milk if someone could be bothered to respond to her crying. One day the drug dealer fled the scene, taking Fah Sai’s older brother with him, but abandoning the little girl and her sister to their fate.

The children were rescued and given into the care of the Camillians, where Fah Sai is receiving love, care and therapy. She is learning to speak – she can say ‘Mom’, ‘Eat’, ‘Go’. She is eating well and getting stronger, and best of all for this lonely and neglected little girl she is – as her official case history very charmingly puts it - ‘very enjoy with new friends’. At last Fah Sai has friends to play with.

Thai Children’s Trust is looking for sponsors for Fah Sai and her friends, to support the work of the Camillian Home in Lat Krabang which is pioneering modern treatment and support for children with disabilities in Thailand.

If you would like to sponsor a child you can do so on their website, www.thaichildrenstrust.org.uk/help or phone Kirsty on 020 7602 6203.
