Partially-sighted Catholic runner beats personal best in charity race

Looking fit after the race

Looking fit after the race

Congratulations to Seán O’Donnell, Director of Catholic Blind Services and Executive Director at The Brian Faul Foundation who completed a 10K run on a hot sunny day in Riga, Latvia, for charity on Sunday in just under one hour - nine minutes than quicker than in training.

Seán took part in the race to raise funds for Catholic Blind Services, a charity providing pastoral and spiritual support to blind and partially sighted people in Britain and Ireland and The Brian Faul Foundation, which provides educational and social care programmes in Latvia, Ukraine and Belarus. See details below if you would like to make a donation.

Seán is also Advisor to the Archbishop of Minsk-Mohilev in Belarus and is based there as well as in Latvia. Funds raised will go towards these projects:

CBS – funds to strengthen its outreach work in Britain and Ireland. Belarus – a kindergarten and school to be built for children including those with disabilities, and small educational programmes. This will be the first Catholic school permitted by the State Authorities, and the first school offering inclusive education.

Latvia – counselling and mentoring services and education and social care initiatives that are not covered by large charities and state institutions.

Ukraine – an orphanage near Kyiv for children under five with terminal illnesses including HIV/AIDS.

If you would like to make a donation, see details below. You can indicate if you have a preference for where your donation should be used.

If you are a British taxpayer, please provide your name and address so that GIFTAID can be claimed on your donation.
