The fierce ongoing war in Syria "has hit the children of Don Bosco again". This is what the Salesians of the Middle East wrote in the statement reporting the news of the death of two young brothers, Anwar Samaan and Misho Samaan, Salesian pastoral workers, along with their mother Minerva. The three were killed when a rocket hit their house in Aleppo, on Friday, 10 April.
"Anwar and Misho spent their childhood and youth in the house of Don Bosco, and as animators they have left in the souls of many, a sign of joy and love of life", the statement said. Anwar was 21 and Misho was 17.
Local sources said the missile attacks, took place between Friday 10 and Saturday, April 11 on the districts of Aleppo which have a significant presence of Christians. The missiles in those neighbourhoods which are controlled by the government army, caused at least 20 deaths.
On April 7, the operator of Caritas Syria, Safouh Al-Mosleh was killed by a rocket that hit his house, located in the Farhat square area, where Greek-Catholic, Armenian and Maronite cathedrals are concentrated.
