New Chaplain for Royal Navy

Father Robert Mathau from the Archdiocese of Westminster has been commissioned as a Chaplain in the Royal Navy following completion of training at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth.
Fr Robert is pictured receiving his Royal Navy Chaplains vestments from Mgr Andrew McFadden, the Principal Catholic Chaplain to the Navy during the annual Naval Mass at the Cathedral of St Mary and St Boniface, Plymouth.
Father Robert, who previously served as Chaplain to the Romanian community in Westminster, was greatly encouraged by the support of the Naval community, Royal Navy and Royal Marines, who welcomed him at the Mass. Among the congregation were a large contingent of Navy trainees from HMS Raleigh as well as officer cadets from Dartmouth.
Mgr Andrew McFadden said "I am delighted to welcome Father Robert to our team of Royal Navy Chaplains and I am sure he will have a fruitful and enjoyable ministry both at sea and in the Naval shore bases".
