Pope's advisor to give 2015 Archbishop Romero Lecture

'From Romero to Francis: The Joy & the Tensions of Becoming a Poor Church with the Poor' is the title of the 2015 Archbishop Romero Lecture.

The Annual Lecture will this year be given by Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga SDB, Archbishop of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Until earlier this year, the Cardinal was the President of Caritas International. He is also the coordinator of the Council of Cardinal Advisers which Pope Francis established to help him look at the workings of the Vatican.

Given the Cardinal's long experience with Caritas International, and his current role working alongside Pope Francis, he is uniquely placed to offer insights on what the often repeated hope of the pope, to bring about 'a poor Church for the poor' means, and the links to the vision of Church which Blessed Oscar Romero lived out.

The lecture is taking place on Thursday, 1 October 2015 at 7pm in St George's Cathedral, Southwark.

St George's Cathedral is where the specially commissioned Romero Cross by artist Fernando Llort is placed, containing relics of Blessed Oscar Romero.

All are very welcome to the lecture. There are no tickets needed for the event.
