Petition: Keep conflict minerals out of Europe

"The London Mining Network writes: "We've heard that on Tuesday, October 27, EU member states will declare their position on legislation that could keep minerals mined in conflict zones out of the EU. While it is not the final stage of the process, there is a real possibility that this could lead to the EU banning conflict minerals across the continent!
But we don't yet know where the UK stands on the legislation...
Can you sign the petition to get the UK to support binding legislation to keep conflict minerals out of Europe?
As I'm sure you know, mining for precious minerals has led to and financed some of the most violent conflicts in the world. The proposed bill - voted through by the EU Parliament in May, but awaiting approval by EU Heads of State - would force EU companies to inspect their own product supply chains for any minerals that could have come from conflict regions, and to seek out alternative suppliers.
The British government has been notably silent on the issues since the EU Parliament vote, and we need to make sure they know that we are watching, and that we care what they do on this critical issue.
Add your name to the petition for a European Union that is free from conflict minerals!"
