Pope Francis sends message to North of England flood victims
Pope Francis has sent his thoughts and prayers to all those affected by the floods in the North of England.
In a message to the Bishop of Lancaster, Most Rev Michael Campbell, the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Antonio Mennini writes:
Dear Bishop Campbell,
Having learnt of the devastating effects caused in the North of England and Cumbria in particular by Storm Desmond in these last days. I should like to convey to you and your people, along with the civic authorities and support services, the closeness of the Holy Father Pope Francis, and my person sympathy at this difficult time.
I assure you of my prayers for those who have tragically lost their homes or been injured, as well as for their relatives and friends. May the Lord grant them comfort and strength in the future.
While kindly asking you to transmit these sentiments of the Holy Father and myself to all those affected by this tragedy, I remain
Yours sincerely in the Lord
Archbishop Antonio Mennini
Apostolic Nuncio
