Catholics named in 2016 New Years Honours List
Catholics from many walks of life are named in the 2016 Honours List. In total, 1,196 people have received an award.
The Catholics honoured include:
Hannah Carmichael, a trustee of Depaul UK, who was made an OBE for services to homeless and vulnerable young people.
Paul Chidgey, Chair of Governors, The Barlow RC High School and Specialist Science College, Manchester. OBE Medallist For services to Education.
Mark Cueto, former England rugby player, who was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to rugby union.
Paul Farmer, Chief Executive of mental health charity Mind who will become a CBE
Denis Keefe, Ambassador to Serbia, who was made a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG).
Maureen Martin, headteacher at Coloma Convent Girls' School in Croydon, who was made an OBE for services to education.
Anthony Peter McCoy, retired jockey, who becomes a Knight for services to horse racing.
Sara Wheeler who was awarded an MBE for services to government administration and voluntary service to the community in south Westminster. She is the HR business adviser at the government's UK Trade and Investment department and also volunteers her time at the Holy Apostle Church in Pimlico and raises money for a little girl with neuroblastoma cancer.
Pauline Wilson, headteacher at Ursuline Preparatory School in Essex.
