Vatican Cardinal pays tribute to David Bowie on Twitter

Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, paid tribute to rock legend David Bowie, who died this morning at the age of 69, from cancer.

In a quote from David Bowie's 1969 Space Oddity, Cardinal Ravasi tweeted this morning:

"Ground Control to Major Tom

Commencing countdown,

engines on

Check ignition

and may God's love be with you

(David Bowie)"
