Call to #disagreewell in politics
After the unedifying behaviour of one or two speakers during the election for Mayor of London, current arguments over Brexit, and Donald Trump's election campaign - there are some some fairly shocking public discourses taking place on both sides of the Atlantic.
Christians in Politics are trying to insert a very different message and method into the public square, with a new video appealing for everyone to get involved in politics, but to do it in a way that shows respect to those who have different views to our own.
As Archbishop Justin Welby said in the foreword to Andy Flanagan's book: 'Those Who Show Up' - "There is joy in diversity, and we should not be afraid to disagree with one another, but in a way that models the reconciling love of Jesus. Good disagreement is a gift that the church can offer the world around it - and our political system could certainly do with a healthy dose of it."
Christians in Politics ask readers to watch their new video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=23MEShLYoJ4 and then email, Facebook, tweet it out and about as you see fit with the hashtag #disagreewell.
