Freshers' Prayer from Student Christian Movement & diary dates

As Fresher's Week is about to begin in universities and colleges around the UK, the Student Christian Movement (SCM) has published a prayer for all new students, and a list of some of the events they are planning over the next few months.
These include a conversation between the Archbishop of Canterbury and Malala Yousafzai, Nobel Peace prize winner; a ceilidh, a speaker from Pax Christi and a talk by Timothy Radcliffe.
PRAYER FOR FRESHERS WEEK
Lord I pray for the students who are starting university
and the exciting journey they are embarking on.
May it be an enriching time
Teach them new things about your exciting, complex and beautiful world.
Let their knowledge distil into understanding
May it be an enjoyable time.
Surround them with good friends, who can make them laugh.
Let those friendships last beyond university.
May it be a liberating time
As some step out into new freedom and independence. Let their experiences become wisdom for life.
May it be life changing,
As they discover new passions and interests,
and perhaps even new callings.
In Jesus' name
Amen
Prayer written by Gareth Banton
