Course: A biblical journey through the Mass

The Mass is the centre of our faith. We celebrate it every day. We know all the responses. We know all the gestures. But do we know what it all means? In this short course/Study Day with Fr Brian Purfield SJ, at Mount Street Jesuit Centre in London this month, participants will take a tour of the liturgy and explore the biblical roots of the words and gestures we experience in the liturgy and reflect on their profound significance.
This short course looks at the origin and development of the Roman Rite of the Eucharistic Liturgy with a particular interest in the biblical texts that underlie the various prayers used in the liturgy. With the implementation of the third edition of the Roman Missal in 2011, there has been a great impetus to study the prayers of the liturgy of the Roman Rite and examine the biblical texts that have given rise to many of those prayers. It is hoped that this short course may help participants towards a full conscious and active participation in the Mass.
The course runs from Thursday 12 January - Thursday 02 February 2017 (11am - 1pm) at Mount Street Jesuit Centre, 114 Mount Street, W1K 3AH London
