London: Open Studio Exhibition by Catholic Artist Tim Patrick

Ora Pro Nobis
Catholic Artist Tim Patrick, is holding an Open Studio exhibition in Camberwell, London, from 6th - 9th September 2018, to inaugurate the space and launch his life drawing and art classes this Autumn.
Tim, 29, initially studied traditional portrait painting in Florence, before continuing his art education in Brighton and most recently at the Royal Drawing School in London, where he continues to have an association.
"Being a painter, I am fascinated how the representation of the visual world can reinvent and reinterpret a subject. Memory and reality are the two principal interests of mine, and the dual realities of seeing, and experiencing. The idea that a painted or drawn image can be transformative, and can reinvigorate a something from our experience excites me."
Being a practicing Catholic, Tim's interest in how to live the faith in the ordinary, overlooked corners of life is a theme throughout his work. Taking its subjects from the stuff of the everyday, the exhibition moves between laundrettes and bathrooms, street scenes and restaurants, suggesting the tension between the physical and spiritual in the places and situations encountered in the contemporary world.
"Working from life is always my starting point - the pieces tend to begin with a drawing or painting from observation - it's like a way of encountering reality and trying to make sense of it".
Working from his studio in Camberwell, Tim will be running classes in portrait and figure painting, as well as life drawing on Monday an Tuesday evenings from September. His work was recently featured in the 2018 Threadneedle Prize and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters exhibition at the Mall Galleries.
The Private View takes place on Thursday 6th September 2018 6pm-9pm. To attend the preview of the Open Studio exhibition, please RSVP Tim at tim@timpatrick.co.uk
