Catholic Peoples Weeks getting underway for 2019
The first Catholic Peoples' Week of 2019 is taking place this weekend at Boars Hill Carmelite Priory near Oxford. The theme is: 'Church at the Crossroads - Responding to Challenging Times'. Participants are hearing from the 'Divine Renovation' Team UK and also from a parish priest currently implementing the Divine Renovation programme. They are learning about a range of different and contrasting visions of the Catholic Church of the future.
An Easter Long Weekend - 18-22 April at Plas Caerdeon in the Snowdonian National Park in Wales - will encourage family participation in the celebrations of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter. Titled, 'Yearning to sing our Alleluias: Celebrating the Easter liturgies together', children, young people and adults will be encouraged to prepare, participate and enter into the activities. The programme will be participatory, creative, prayerful, joyful, musical, physical and meditative. It will include breaking bread, lighting fires, washing feet, watching and praying.
Other events this year range from a walking week in Derbyshire in June to a cycling week in August. Two Summer all-age weeks at Kintbury and Malvern in August will explore 'Living Eucharistically' and 'The Challenge of Parenting in the 21st century'.
