Throughout the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from all food and water from sunrise to sunset. The fast ends each night with the Iftar meal. In Jordan, Caritas usually gives out lunches in their Restaurant of Mercy - but throughout Ramadan, instead they are offering hot evening meals to all comers. The title of the campaign is: 'Ramadan is Different in Generous Jordan.'
Caritas has also started to distribute food parcels and hygiene kits, in coordination with a large number of institutions, initiatives and societies that are spread all over Jordan. Caritas Jordan hopes to reach as many as possible families during the holy month of Ramadan.
Jordan now has a population of just over ten million. In the past few years the country has taken in more than 1.4million Syrian refugees, two million Palestinian refugees and an estimated 36,000 refugees from Iraq.
