Bishop urges Scots to protect 'Our Common Home'

Campaigners from across Scotland's eight Catholic dioceses will gather in St Stephen's Centre in Glasgow on Saturday 21st of September for a 'Day of Reflection' on the environment and climate change.

The Conference will urge Scots to answer the call of Pope Francis to 'care for our common home' and will hear from keynote speaker Dr Lorna Gold, vice-chair of the Global Catholic Climate Movement. It is the culmination of a year of events to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Justice and Peace Scotland.

Ahead of the Conference, Bishop William Nolan, President of Justice and Peace Scotland, said: "In His Encyclical Letter, 'Laudato Si'- On Care for Our Common Home', Pope Francis calls on each one of us to help bring the whole human family together to seek sustainable and integral development, and to do so in a spirit of generosity and partnership."

"In this Season of Creation (1st September - 4th October), I hope that events such as our National Conference will inspire people to take small but practical steps in their own homes, parishes and local communities to build a fairer, more sustainable world."
