Catholic RE teachers association first national conference
The first national conference of The Association of Teachers of Catholic Religious Education (ATCRE) will take place at St Mary's University, Twickenham on Saturday 8th February 2020. It is believed that this will be the largest national event for Catholic RE teachers in England and Wales.
Bishop Alan Williams sm from Brentwood Diocese, will be delivering a keynote session along with over 20 other nationally and internationally recognised RE teachers, leaders, experts and academics. Mary Myatt, Michael Merrick, Phillip Robinson, Dr Leonardo Franchi and Prof Richard Rymarz are just some of these speakers.
Chair of ATCRE, Matthew Dell said: "I am incredibly excited about this event. The Committee have worked incredibly hard to ensure that this conference will be a significant and profound moment for Catholic RE in this country. This is an amazing opportunity for sharing, for learning and for networking. We have teachers travelling from all over England and Wales to be at this event."
ATCRE will be leading the teacher consultations on the new Religious Education Curriculum Directory later in 2020. They will continue to work with the Religious Education Council of England and Wales (REC) and National Association of Teachers of RE (NATRE) to provide a voice for Catholic RE teachers.
The Association of Teachers of Catholic Religious Education was formed in March 2018 with the support of the Catholic Education Service (CES) and is now an associate member of the National Board of Religious Inspectors and Advisers (NBRIA). The mission of the organisation was to provide a national representation and support specifically for teachers of Catholic religious education.
