Oxford: Blessing ceremony for new Laudato Si Research Centre

The Laudato Si' Research Institute (LSRI) in Oxford recently welcomed members of Campion Hall to a Blessing and Open House event in their new offices situated at Albion House near Campion Hall's main building.

The gathering began with a prayer from the Master of Campion Hall, Fr Nick Austin SJ, followed by a reading from the Associate Director of LSRI, Rebecca Artinian-Kaiser, and a meditation from the Director of LSRI, Celia Deane-Drummond. Blessings in French, Malay, and Hrusso Aka (the endangered language of a remote Indian state) were delivered by LSRI and Hall members before holy water from the Hall's chapel was sprinkled over the Institute's new premises.

Inspired by the Pope's encyclical, Laudato Si': On Care for our Common Home, the LSRI was established to conduct multidisciplinary research that will drive change and address the most pressing environmental issues of our day. Since its conception, the Institute has been making significant headway in establishing its core research hubs and securing external funding to strengthen them. Work is currently underway to develop the Laudato Si' Research Network - a global academic network designed to encourage research exchange and collaboration at the national and international level.

This event marks the start of an exciting year ahead for the Institute, with many events planned throughout 2020, including an official launch in June to mark the 5th anniversary of Laudato Si'.
