Peace groups to mark Ash Wednesday with prayer vigils
Ash Wednesday on 26 February will be marked by peace campaigners with vigils and prayers in Coventry, Liverpool, Glasgow and London.
In Coventry Pax Christi and friends will gather for a vigil on the Old Cathedral steps at 11.45am.
In Liverpool a service will begin at 12noon in St Luke's, the city's bombed-out-church and continue with a procession through the town centre. In London a prayer gathering and symbolic acts of witness will take place around the Ministry of Defence Building in Whitehall.
In Glasgow campaigners will be gathering at Faslane South Gate at 2.45.
In London, members of Pax Christi, the London Catholic Worker and Christian CND will meet in Whitehall Gardens at 3pm for a prayer service and then process to the Ministry of Defence for a vigil and prayers.
