Wales: Young parish singer wins major music contest

  • Jo Siedlecka

A young singer from Swansea has won this year's Voice Kids UK 2020 competition.

Justine Afante, 13, who attends the Church of the Sacred Heart in Swansea with her family, was proclaimed the winner in the final of the series which was broadcast on UTV in Saturday night. Congratulations Justine!

Justine previously impressed the judges by singing 'Never Enough' in the blind auditions, prompting all the coaches: Will.i.am, Pixie Lott, Danny Jones and Paloma Faith to give her their vote and offer to coach her.

She chose Pixie Lott as her mentor for the finals.

Justine told ITV News: "It's been a rollercoaster of emotions and I'm just so grateful that I'm one of those people who got to experience it."

Parish Priest Fr Jason Jones told ICN: "Justine and her family are great supporters of the parish and are involved in many aspects of parish life. Justine regularly sings at Mass and various events and her brother is an Altar boy."

Justine attended St Joseph's Cathedral School and is now a pupil at Bishop Vaughan Catholic Comprehensive.
