Letter: We are praying for Father Stan

We are praying for Father Stan Swamy SJ.
As you know, many Christians are being persecuted and prosecuted without reason. British Christian NGOs have also suffered, notably one of my friends, a married NGO member who managed orphanages in South India. Although he and his wife also adopted a South Indian child, who is now a successful working adult, my friend has been persecuted and prosecuted, and still is
suffering the prolonged legal processes following false accusations regarding alleged "victims" in India.
The supposed "victims" were tortured, to make them accuse him, and these "victims" were also sent to
psychiatric institutions for refusing to accuse my friend.
Meanwhile the legal system prolongs the "case"which would have been dismissed in the UK.
There is an ongoing campaign within the Indian government to dismiss foreign NGOs, as they draw attention to the poor and neglected people of India, whereas the Indian government wants to show only the prosperity and growing economy of India.
We pray for all of the victims of religious and social persecution.
Catherine Mac Manus.
