Midnight Mass from Clifton Catholic Cathedral features among a series of broadcasts with which the BBC is marking the Christmas season. The Bishop of Clifton, the Rt Revd Declan Lang, will be presiding at the Mass, and Canon Bosco MacDonald, Cathedral Dean, will be the preacher.

Choir members will sing well-loved carols including O Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night and Hark! the Herald Angels Sing. The Mass setting is Missa Universalis, composed by the cathedral's director of music, Richard Jeffrey-Gray, and the organist is Stephen Bryant.

There will also be carols on BBC 2 from the candlelit chapel of King's College, Cambridge. The choir will sing carols old and new, including the Sussex Carol, In the Bleak Mid-Winter, Still, Still, Still, Candlelight Carol andO Come All Ye Faithful.

BBC Radio 4 will likewise carry carols from King's College, Cambridge. The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will be broadcast on Christmas Eve from 3-4.30pm.

And Ashely Grote, organist at Norwich Anglican Cathedral, will feature on a BBC Radio 3 programme with the BBC Singers on December 22 at 2pm.
