Missionaries killed in 2020

Fides reports that 20 missionaries were killed around the world in the past year. They included: eight priests, one religious brother, three religious sisters, two seminarians and six lay people.
The highest number of missionaries lost was in America, where five priests and three lay people were killed. In Africa, one priest, three religious women, one seminarian, and two lay people lost their lives. In Asia one priest, one seminarian and one layman were killed. In Europe one priest and one religious brother were killed.
In the last 20 years, from 2000 to 2020, 535 pastoral workers have been killed around the world, five of whom were bishops.
